Japan...200,000 fishing boats strike! That is a lot.

Oil profiteering effects rich and poor alike...if you believe the developing world are the only ones bearing the effects of US foreign policy?.
But there are benefits. Oil companies are making the best profits in the history of the world("we want to spread democracy, capitalism and the american way" Bush), and well, in the case of Japan, increased (albeit politically-persuaded) imports of US beef (BSE) and the unending stream of Starbucks, KFC's, Mcdonaldsux etc. Surely a bonus to the US-elite economy at a time when the invasion of Iraq is costing more than 2 billion bucks a week.
